Salvia-The Legal Hallucinogen

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Salvia Divinorum is a member of sage family and is known to produce psychoactive effects. Salvia is a legal hallucinogen drug unlike other drugs available in the market (like Cocaine, Marijuana or Math). Due to ever expanding high demand among teenagers, Salvia: the legal hallucinogen is now also been sold over the internet. The herb is often compared to LSD by some politicians and researchers.

Traditionally, Shamans have been using Salvia for centuries to facilitate visions during spiritual sessions. However, the western world got to know about the rare herb only in 1950s. The leaves of the herb could be smoked or chewed in order to experience the sensations produced by the plant. Salvia’s sensations (or often referred as side effects) can only be experienced for minutes or hours (depending on the dose). This very fact forced the government to legalize the plant. Salvia: the legal hallucinogen has been a concern for parents and citizens as the researchers are still trying to find the herb’s long term effects.

A very concerning issue attached to Salvia: the legal hallucinogen is the fact that not much knowledge is available on the drug. It is the users who feel that there are no side effects attached to the herb. According to them, the drug doesn’t have a coming down period unlike other drugs. But the very fact doesn’t make the drug safe. It has been noticed that the concentrated extracts can produce intense results. Moreover, there have been other negative reports also affixed with Salvia: the legal hallucinogen.

Although the information related to Salvia - the legal hallucinogen is quiet constrained but this doesn’t stop people to venture the drug and taste its pleasures.

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Among thousands of Salvia species, Salvia Divinorum is rare specie which is found in remote places in Mexico. Salvia Divinorum has been used by Mazatec Indians for healing and ritual purposes for years. By smoking chewing or chewing the leaves of Salvia Divinorum, one can experience psychoactive sensations produced by it.

The effects produced by Salvia Divinorum largely depend on size its dose. If Salvia is taken in small dose, it is known to arouse sexual desires. It increases sensual feelings and one’s physical acuteness during sex. And in case a large dose of Salvia is taken, the effects produced by the herb are very similar to effects of ayahausca plant which is known to induce holographic experience.

According to Mazatec Indians, people used to avoid having sex at least a week prior to having Salvia Divinorum as they believed that mixing Salvia and sex produces better sensations.

The effect of smoking Salvia only lasts for approximately 15 minutes so people use sublingual extract during sex whose effects lasts for about an hour. They keep the extract under their tongue for fifteen minutes. Through this method user gets the right dosage of Salvia Divinorum which assures better sex experience.

Many users confirm that Salvia Divinorum is completely safe physiologically though the fact has not been backed by any research study. Researchers have only found that Salvinorin A is a major component of Salvia which has psychoactive attributes and are biochemically safe. But it has been found that the larger doses of Salvia may produce psychologically negative effects. Therefore, people should consult a doctor before experimenting with Salvia Divinorum and sex so as to gain proper knowledge on the subject.

Salvia-Lawmakers perspective

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Whether you can consume Salvia or not depends on the state you reside in. There are some states where the drug is controlled. But in most of the states it is legal to use the drug. If you live in a state where Salvia is legal that means in that particular state it is legal to grow, buy, own, and sell Salvia. This also includes Salvia extracts. If someone decides to sell the herb as a supplement of some sort, then the sales must be confirmed to the U.S. Lawmakers perspective and if it is sold for consumption as a food or drug, then sales must be regulated by the FDA. Because the herb is not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration, the sale of the herb is probably illegal. The sale of an illegal drug in the United States is prosecutable by law under the FD&C’s misbranding clause and Lawmakers perspective. The larger the quantity the drug is sold in; there is a larger possibility that the person selling it will be prosecuted by the fullest extent of the Lawmakers perspective. It has been said that the US Air Force is actually considering having salvia divinorum added to their banned drug list. As said before, it all depends on which state that you live in and what are the rules and regulations there along with Lawmakers perspective that you will have to abide by. The state police, the federal police, the navy and even the air force all have there own rules that you have to abide by. So, if you plan to purchase, grow, sell or use Salvia, make sure to check Lawmakers perspective in your state first.
